I am so over word trends

I don’t know about you but I am exhausted with WORD TRENDS.  I am tired of everyone telling me that they are being their AUTHENTIC SELF, or confess about their deep dark fear of PROCRASTINATION.

content-word-cloud1

Now, without meaning to be cruel – (which means that I know that I will ultimately offend someone), prior to 2015, most people did not realise anything about the crippling effects of procrastination, until reading the most recent self-help book.  In fact, the use of the word procrastination was not popularly used in our vocabulary until the last few years, and reminds me of the time Bobby Brown released the single, My Prerogative – every freaking person started, using that damn word – from boardroom to the toilet, it was bloody ridicules.

I think my biggest woe about word trends (especially the current ones) are their capacity to come across insincere.

The issue I have, are not really the words, but the body of work or proof that sits behind its use.

I find it difficult to believe that you are authentically empowering individuals when you are selling me your books/courses etc, however, on the other hand spreading gossip on social media.

I find it difficult for me to hear you speak about your fear of procrastination when every other image of you is you out partying/socialising.  That is not a fear, that is a life choice.

I do not have any disdain for the words, but what I do find perplexing is that many people believe that it makes them unique.  It is not unique if everyone is using it.

Let’s look at another sector – food and drink and the use of the word, ARTISAN.  It is ridicules to believe that I would purchase a product based on its Artisan quality.  The irony is; that in today’s society home and cultural products are far more appealing  and sell more effectively than fancy, state of the art confectionary.

My final word trend that seems to have spiked in 2016 is ORGANIC.  Can I be totally honest with you?  At one stage of my life I grew up in a place where I believe, real Organic agriculture took place.  I saw the entire agriculture eco-system in action.  From the moment cattle was born and feed on plain grass from the ground to seeing beans being planted.  Throughout the entire process, the soil around the plants would be fed and nurtured with the same s**t that came out of the cow’s backside.  Now that is what I call ORGANIC.

organic-mushroomsI always say to clients, when you are presenting or showcasing your products or doing a demo, the most important thing is to do is to bring you.  Come prepared, come calm, come open – that is what authenticity looks like and you cannot procrastinate on being you.

So until next time my lovely reader, I will keep writing and hope that you will keep reading!
